About Me
I have been teaching for over 25 years throughout the primary sector, ages 4-12. The wealth of knowledge and skills I have aquired has enabled me to help thousands of children in the classroom. I have tutored children and teenagers for many years. I am now a qualified Play Therapist.

I have training in attachment, autism, anxiety, makaton, attention autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, working memory, and behaviour management.
My Story
In 2014, Teacher-tutor.co.uk was established and became known for individualised learning and care.

Through my teaching, I had always wanted to and enjoyed helping those children that struggled at school, many with needs. I trained as a SENCo and enabled their voice to be heard as an Assistant Head.

In 2019, I moved to the West Country and used this opportunity to evaluate what I want to offer children. The area that I decided to develop in my practise next was that of therapy. I saw many children, as part of my job, who struggled with their mental health. They were not in need enough to meet CAMHS thresholds, but needed someone trained in therapy to help them. I chose play therapy as I saw that there were many avenues to support teens and those able to voice their feelings and thoughts. However, the younger children, those who were either not emotionally literate enough or had communication difficulties, did not have a way to work though what was happening in their lives.

Therefore, I began my training as a play therapist.

MelanieMahony.co.uk was born to enable me to help children of all needs to flourish and grow.
​
Since 2019, I have been a SENCo at a couple of schools and now I am a foster carer. My foster training has given me a great deal of insight into the impact and treatment of trauma. My training for to be a fully qualified play therapist has taken a little longer than I would have wished due to the Coronovirus, but we all have had our lives impacted by this.

I have now completed my second masters level course and a fully qualified as a Play Therapist. I am now looking into other therapies I could offer - hence the name change to
MelanieMahony Therapeutic Services.
This chapter of my life is developing into a world of possibilities and would love you to come on the journey with me.

Where?
I am based in Nailsea, North Somerset.

I am willing to travel within a 5 mile radius free of charge. If you need me to travel further this can be be negotiated based on other clients on that day.
